John Shriver had paid $78.15 for the 10 acres prior to David Ribblett's death and petitioned the Court on 6 September 1864 to order the specific performance of said contract. On 5 June 1865 the Court ordered Joseph S. Strayer, Administrator, to convey the land to John Shriver after payment of the balance of the purchase money if any be due.Probate
David Ribblett of Conemaugh Township, Cambria County died intestate on 13 July 1863 and Jonathan S. Strayer was appointed administrator of his estate. He owned 133 acres of land in Conemaugh Township at the time of his death. Jonathan S. Strayer petitioned the Court to sell it since there was not enough money to pay David Ribblett's debts. It was sold at auction to Fridell Schmell for $2005.Guardians were appointed for his minor children: Peter, above 14 years of age (12 December 1864, John Shaffer appointed guardian); Harriet, above 14 years of age (7 December 1864, John Shaffer appointed guardian); Caroline, above 14 years of age (12 December 1864, John Shaffer appointed guardian); Alexander, under 14 years of age (12 December 1864, John Shaffer appointed guardian).
Mary Ann Ribblett petitioned the Court on 8 February 1870 to appoint guardians for her children, Elizabeth and Maria, under 14 years of age. David Ribblett's son, Jacob D. Ribblett, was appointed their guardian. Although the petition states they were children of David Ribblett, they were probably children of David Ribblett's son, William, and his wife, Mary Ann. William and his wife, Mary Ann, appear in Conemaugh Township, Cambria County in the 1860 census. William Ribblett does not appear in the 1870 census. If William had died, then his children would have been entitled to their father's share of David Ribblett's estate. Also, David Ribblett's wife was Julia Ann and not Mary Ann.
Phillip J. Custer, on behalf of his wife Emily, a daughter of David Ribblett, petitioned the Court on 11 September 1865 to have Jonathan S. Strayer, the administrator of David Ribblett's estate, file an account and settlement with the Court. Jonathan S. Strayer filed an account with the Court on 4 December 1865 but exceptions to the account were filed and an auditor was appointed by the Court on 12 July 1866. The Court appointed an auditor on 13 October 1869 to distribute the funds in the hands of the Administrator. Jacob D. Ribblett was then appointed guardian for Elizabeth and Maria Ribblett. An account was filed by the guardian on 9 September 1873.
