William RIBLET

Mary Ann Ribblet petitioned the Court on 8 February 1870 to appoint guardians for her children, Elizabeth and Maria, under 14 years of age. David Ribblet's son, Jacob D. Ribblet, was appointed their guardian. Although the petition states they were children of David Ribblet, they were probably children of David Ribblet's son, William, and his wife, Mary Ann. William and his wife, Mary Ann, appear in Conemaugh Township, Cambria County in the 1860 census. William Ribblet does not appear in the 1870 census. If William had died, then his children would have been entitled to their father's share of David Ribblet's estate. Also, David Ribblet's wife was Julia Ann and not Mary Ann.
