Notes
Probate
Elizabeth Yeager by her husband Frederick Yeager filed a petition on 29 September 1856 to have Bartholomew's land valued/partitioned since he owned 400 acres and died intestate. The petition states that Bartholomew left a widow and eight children: William, Frederick, Abraham, Catharine intermarried with John Holmes, Elizabeth intermarried with Frederick Yeager, Maria intermarried with Abraham Shiry, Sophia intermarried with George L. Bowser (all living in Cambria County), and Margaret intermarried with Nathan M. Keaton (living in Westmoreland County). Since the land could not be partitioned, William, as the eldest son, purchased it for $1855. He and George L. Bowser gave bond in the amount of $3500. William was to pay his mother interest semi-annually on 1/3 of the amount and at her death the remaining balance to the other heirs.Endnotes
