Marriage
A newspaper article in the Indiana Evening Gazette for the 3 November 1906 has the heading EFFIE CONNER WAS WED IN PITTSBURG, Left Home Friday to Have a Hat Trimmed and Didn't Return, TOOK TRAIN TO MEET LOVER, Family Received a Phone Message Telling of Marriage to Mr. Sippi, HAVE GONE TO COLUMBUS. The article states "The bride, who is a daughter of J. C. Conner, of South Tenth street, first met her husband in this place while he was here on a business trip. Mr. Sippi has visited Indiana quite a number of times since the first meeting....This was the first that the family knew of the affair...The bride is about 19 years of age and is well known and quite popular in this place."Although the newspaper announcement of their marriage states they were married in Pittsburgh, PA, the divorce papers state they were married in Columbus, Ohio. She gave her age as 21 years on the marriage license application in Pickaway County, Ohio but was only 19 years at the time of her marriage to William Sippi. She gave her residence as Circleville, Pickaway County, Ohio. She was married in Pickaway County, Ohio by the David S. Tappen, the pastor of the Presbyterian Church.
Divorce
The following is from the divorce papers for William G. Sippi and Effie E. Conner: "From the evidence adduced at said hearing the master finds that Effie E. Sippi, formerly Effie E. Connor, and William G. Sippi were united in the bonds of holy matrimony by the Reverend S. Tappen, at Columbus, Ohio on the 3rd day of November, 1906; that they lived together as man and wife at Columbus, Ohio, afterwards removing to to Vintondale, Pa., then to Erie, Pa., and finally to Johnstown, Pa., where on or about July 1, 1909 the said respondent, William G. Sippi, deserted the libelant, leaving home while she was visiting her parents at Indiana, Pa.; that from that date until the present time said respondent has persisted in said desertion and has neglected to support the said libelant and her child; and that during the period of said desertion the said libelant has been dependant upon her father and her own labor for her support."Residence
The obituary for Roy and Effie's daughter Helen in the 7 September 1928 Sykesville Post-Dispatch states that "she was a charming little miss and made many friends here during the brief time the Wolfe family resided in this place. Mr. Wolfe, having sold his barber business to Simon Kephart about one year ago, the family moved to Florida."Residence
Roy's son, Jacob Conner Wolfe, states he was 5 years old when they moved to Bartow, Florida. He was born on 13 November 1921 so they moved to Bartow about 1926 or 1927. He states he lived with with Daisy and John Myers, his aunt and uncle, in Cherry Tree during his freshman year in high school. His parents moved to Indiana, Pennsylvania after his freshman year in high school and he attended Indiana High School through his senior year. Since he attended high school in Cherry Tree during the 1937-1938 school year, his parents moved to Indiana, Pennsylvania before he started school in the fall of 1938.Divorce
Roy B. Wolfe filed for divorce in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania on 2 July 1945 and the divorce was granted on 30 August 1946.Endnotes

The Bible and laminated pages were later given to Nancy Fowler, Jacob C. Conner's great granddaugher. The first entries are entered in a script and the later entries are in cursive handwriting. The Bible was presented to Jacob C. Conner by his father on 1 June 1884 so any birth entries before that date were made after 1884.
