"of the renowned family of chiefs of Kau, the I's" (Pratt, Keoua: Father of Kings, p 9).
LIFE
A. Birth year 1685 estimated by her bearing first child Kalaniopuu at age 16.
B. High chiefess (Descendants of Prince Keeaumoku I. Hms G65, Chart 8-A; Liliuokalani, Hawaii's Story by Hawaii's Queen, p 399). Chiefess of Ka'ua, Hawaii (Pukui, Hawaiian Genealogies, p 31a).
B. Conflict: Pukui, Hawaiian Genealogies, p 104 states that the child she had with Keeaumoku named Keoua Kamak'imoku was a daughter.
C. "Living with [Kalaninuiamamao] at the court of Keawe, she bore him a son, Kalaniopuu, who afterwards became the Moi of Hawaii. The union was not of long duration, for within a year or two she left Kalaninuiamamao and became the wife of his brother, Kalanikeeaumoku, and to him she bore another son, Kalnikupuapaikalaninui Keoua, the father of Kamehameha I. How long she remained with Kalanikeeaumoku is not known positively, but she is next referred to as the wife of Alapainui, with whom she had a daughter, Manona, grandmother of the celebrated Kekuaokalani..." D. She took Keeaumoku for a mate when Kalaniopuu was older (Pukui, Hawaiian Genealogies, p 104).
