LIFE
A. Birth year 1683 estimated between father's birth and son Kalaniopuu's birth, who may have been born when Kalaninuiamamao was 18.
B. His father Keaweikekahialiiokamoku requested a kapu from Kalanikauleleiaiwi for his eldest son; therefore Kalaniuiamamao received the prostrating kapu (McKinzie, Hawaiian Genealogies, vol 2 p 27). First-born son and for whom the Kumulipo was composed (Kamakau, Tales and Traditions of the People of Old, p 163).
C. When his father Keawe died, he became the ruler of Ka'u (Kamakau, Ruling Chiefs of Hawaii, p 65).
D. He was killed while chief in Kau, Hawaii (Fornander, An Account of the Polynesian Race, vol 2 p 132). He was heir to land of Hawaii, but it was seized by Alapai, and Kalaninuiamamao was presumably slain by him (Kamakau, Ruling Chiefs of Hawaii, p 76).
