Edgar L Digre
(23 Aug 1891 - 9 Jan 1937)
Obituary from the Hendricks Pioneer:
Edgar L. Digre was born in Hendricks township August 23, 1891, of the parents Lars and Berit Digre. He was baptized September 27th of the same year. He has always been at home with his parents.
Death came suddenly last Saturday morning, January 9, 1937. he had reached the age of 45 years, four months and seventeen days.
Left to mourn his departure are his parents; three sisters: Mrs. Sivert Hindoien and Mrs. Lars Aune of Hendricks, and Mrs. Ingvald Modtland of Astoria, and one brother, Nils Digre of Hendricks.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon from the home and from the Lutheran Free church with Rev. M. A Ericksen in charge.
Luella and Hilma Hindoien and Gina Mathison sang "Softly and Tenderly Jesus is Calling", and Mrs. M. A. Ericksen sang "O det Land der er lyst som en Dag" at the house services. At the church services, the choir sang three songs: "Skal vi modes hist ved floden", "Does Jesus Care?" and "Sagte of inderlig Jesus me halder".
Interment was made in the East Cemetery. The pallbearers were: Anker Mathison, Alvin Thoreson, Bennie Thoreson, Adolph Trooien, Nels Pederson and Eddie Ronning.
Deepest sympathy is extended the sorrowing relatives and friends.
His father, Lars Digre, registered him for the draft, but answered for him that his son, Edgar, was small of stature, physically disabled, and an idiot. (which I seem to remember hearing from relatives, meant he could not speak - Bev Johnson)
