James G. Lokkesmoe dies in Mankato September 8
Services for James G. Lokkesmoe, 64, 806 Lyndale, Mankato, Mn., were held Friday, Sept. 8, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mankato.
He passed away unexpectedly in his sleep Tuesday morning, Sept. 5. The Rev. Leland Johnson officiated. Burial is at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
He was born to the Rev. Martin and Amy Lokkesmoe, Aug. 14, 1914, in Platte, S.D. and later lived in Hendricks and was graduated from Hendricks High School in 1931.
He married Arlet Engum of Frost, June 20, 1953, and had been a resident of North Mankato since Aug. of 1959.
Before that, he had worked on newspapers in Pleasanton, Texas, Zumbrota, and Faribault. He had been employed at the Mankato Free Press for 14 years in the composing room, leaving there in 1975.
He had recently been employed by Year-A-Round Cab Corp. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mankato.
He is survived by his wife, Arlet, a daughter, Mrs. Amy Wolner, Mankato, a son, Dean, Elgin Air Force Base, Florida; a sister, Priscilla Lindberg, Madison, Wis.; and four brothers, Ben, Minneapolis, Martin, Denver, Peter, Elgin, Ill., and Knute, Stillwater.
He is also survived by many relatives and friends in the Hendricks area.
