Private, Captain Pare's Company (F), Dallas County Regiment, Missouri Home Guard. "Appears on record of allowances made by Hawkins Taylor Commission". Private to Corporal, Company A, 8th Missouri Calvery. Mustered at Springfield, Missouri 7/29/1862. Age 23 years old, 5' 10" tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair and a farmer by occupation. Promoted to corporal 6/20/1864.

Served as a private and as a corporal for the Union Army in the Civil War. Enlisted first on June 24, 1861, at Buffalo, Missouri and served one month and 15 days in Captain Pare's Company F, Dallas County Regiment, Missouri Home Guard and on July 29, 1862 at Springfield, Missouri for a term of three years. Served in Company A, 8'th Regiment, Missouri Cavalry and served in Missouri and Arkansas. Took part in the Battle of Prairie Grove, Arkansas and Brownsville and other minor engagements and was discharged in Little Rock, Arkansas on July 20, 1865.

He had pension file number Invalid Pension "A", Claim number 299600 and Certificate number 251373.
