George WESTON

Cheryl Gray says: George would have been approximately 7 years old when the family came to Australia. Leoplold was born in Victoria in 1888, the first to be born in Australia. The family then moved to Queensland where Selina, Agnes & Irene were born.
George appears to have returned to NZ as did other family members. According to electoral rolls he is living in Newmarket, Auckland in 1919, he is a painter. In 1928 he and Leopold are living in Auckland West, at different addresses, George's occupation is painter. By 1932 he is back in NSW living with his mother Selina at Illawarra Rd, Marrickville and also in 1933, again he is a painter.
I found little information about George prior to his marriage to Ella Mildred Gazzard in 1933. Parents George & Selina and daughter Irene are on the 1913 electoral roll and living at William St, Canterbury, which is the same street George & Ella lived after their marriage.
George & Ella had no children. Electoral rolls between 1931-1942 show them living at 237 William St, Belmore. Ella's occupation is home duties and George is a poultry farmer. I spoke to Mavis, George's niece and daughter of Irene Weston, and she remembers going to the home of George & Ella. This was my first hint that George had married. Mavis also remembered lots of chickens around the place so this also helped me to pin point George & Ella. Mavis remembers George as a nice man but she thought Ella was quite stern and always calling George in to do something inside.
From 1943-1954 George & Ella lived at 2 Windsor Parade, North
Narrabeen. It seems Ella continued to live there for a time after the death of George.
George's occupation while at Narrabeen is listed as a painter.
George is buried in Mona Vale Cemetery, there is no headstone.
