"M. S. Greer established and operated a general merchandise store at Kimball until the Gulf, Colorado, and Santa Fe Railroad was built and Kopperl was established in the winter of 1881-1882. He and his brothers, G. R. and William R., sold land not only for a railway right-of-way, but also for the town of Kopperl. M. S. moved his business to Kopperl in 1882. (BOSQUE COUNTY: LAND AND PEOPLE, 1985, "Nathanial Hunt Greer," by M. S. Greer, page 330.)

He was at the signing of the Bosque County Charter in 1854, was a Texas Ranger, and ran a ferry at Kimball Bend." (Jack Burnett.)" (William Greer, Illinois, 1995.)
