Individual Details

David Daniel Greer

(September 13, 1813 - February 25, 1874)

1850 Drew County, Arkansas census, Spring Hill Township, Dwelling #291: David D. GREER, 36, m, farmer, Tenn; Elizue I. GREER, 26, f, Ga; William I. (should be S.) GREER, 5, m, Ala; John T. WHITE, 5, m, Ala; Sarah GREER?, 23, f, Ala. (NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: The index for Drew County, Arkansas lists D. D. Greer and Eliza Jane White marrying 23 December 1850, but this is out of order in the index. If they were married by the 1850 census, then they would have married in December of 1849, not 1850. A copy of the marriage license would reveal the true marriage date.)

"D.D. Greer, C.F. Hudspeth, J.L. Haynes, T.W. Haynes were elected sheriffs. D. D. Greer is also a coroner." ("The Goodspeed Biographical and Historical Memoirs of Southern Arkansas" by the Goodspeed Publishing Co.: Page 930, about 1847.)

"Arkansas Land Records, Act/Treaty of April 24, 1820: David D. Greer, Sept 1, 1856 for 80 acres; and July 1, 1857 for 140.39 acres." (Abstracted by Jan Greer, Rt 6 Box 4069, Nacogdoches, Texas 75964, email jgreer@iamerica.net>.)
