(December 28, 1869 - March 7, 1932)

"A. A. Howell died Monday Morning ... A. A. Howell, age 62, passed away at the family residence in the west part of town Monday morning at two o'clock. He had been in failing health for more than a year, but had been confined to his home for only the past two weeks. Friday he was on the streets of Broken Bow, and apparently was improving, but Sunday night he took a turn for the worse and his death occurred soon afterwards.

"Funeral services were held at the First Methodist Church Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. A. R. Luton. Burial followed in the Broken Bow Cemetery under the direction of the Skaggs Funeral Home of Idabel. Pallbearers were: A. M. Bunch, George Love, W. M. Adcock, J. P. Adcock, Jack Currence, and Rex Chandler.

"Mr. Howell came to Broken Bow nine year ago and has been manager of the cotton gin here of the Temple Cotton Oil Company of Texarkana. Before removing to this city he resided at Idabel three years. He was a good citizen and his passing away is regretted by the entire community. Mr. Howell was a splendid gentleman in every respect and leaves a large circle of friends and relatives who mourn his death. He was a consistent member of the Methodist Church, a splendid neighbor and an excellent husband and father.

"He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. John A. Roberts of Broken Bow; three sons, Jesse T. Howell, Broken Bow; V. H. Howell, Los Angeles, California, and Lee Howell, Jayton, Texas. Three brothers also survive. They are W. S. Howell, of Panhandle, Texas; Z. E. Howell of Wellington, Texas, and Sam Howell, of Brownsville, Texas.

"The News deplores the death of this good man, and joins many friends in sympathy to the bereaved ones." (BROKEN BOW NEWS, McCurtain County, Oklahoma, Thursday, March 10, 1932, front page.)
