Individual Details
Nathan Hitt
(Abt, 1767 - 1824)
Nathan listed as a tithable in his father's family in 1788 which indicates he was born about 1767. Nathan appears with his brother, Elijah, in the 1800 Tax List for Culpeper County, Virginia, District of David Brown and is listed as owning one horse (Virginia Magazine of History and Biography, Vol 62, No. 1, January 1954, p. 124).
On 24 February 1806, Nathan was appointed guardian of Stephen Hitt, his younger brother and the orphaned son of their father. Bond was set at $200 with John, also an older brother of Stephen, as security.
Nathan never married and he lived with his brother Elijah at Warrentown, Virginia. He was still living in Fauquier County in 1824.
In his will, he left his money to his nephews, Dudley David, John R., and Steptoe; all children of John Hitt.
