Bettie Sophronia Reynolds

Bettie Sophronia Reynolds was born October 12, 1893, in Italy, Texas (Ellis County), daughter of Andrew J. Reynolds and Emma Manila Kendrick. Bettie had eight brothers and sisters: Marietta, Minnie M., Andrew Minter, Pearl, William L., Chester, Edgar, and Leo.

In 1910, Bettie, age 16, was living in Mountain Park, Oklahoma (Kiowa County) with her father, a farmer, age 51, born in Texas; and her mother, Emma, age 47, born in Texas; and her siblings: Pearl, age 19; William, age 14; Chester, age 12; Edgar, age 9; and Leo, age 6; all born in Texas.

On August 3, 1913, in Odetta, Oklahoma (Kiowa County), Bettie married Lee Roy Hock, who was born November 7, 1887 in Ft Smith, Arkansas (Sebastian County), son of George Alva Hock and Cora Bell Permenter. Lee and Bettie ultimately would have six children: Ralph Laymond Hock, Leonard Ray Hock, Alfred James Hock, Loyd Warren Hock, Paul Calvin Hock, and Joe Lawrence Hock.

In 1930, Bettie, age 36, and Lee, age 42, a city inspector, were living in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (Oklahoma County) with their five children: Ralph L., age 15; Leonard R., age 13; Alfred J., age 9; Loyd W., age 7; and Paul Calvin; age 5; all born in Oklahoma. Also living in the household was Bettie's brother, Chester J. Reynolds, age 32, a railroad clerk, born in Texas.

Lee died February 19, 1955, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (Oklahoma County) and was buried in the Sunnylane Cemetery. Bettie died February 21, 1988 in Bethany, Oklahoma (Oklahoma County) and was buried beside her husband.

Bettie Sophronia Hock, age 94, born October 12, 1893 in Italy, Texas, died February 21, 1988. She moved to the Oklahoma City area in 1917 from Eldorado, Oklahoma. She managed the Lowell School Cafeteria from 1928 to 1931. She was a self employed interior decorator for 30 years retiring in 1958. She was a member of the Crutcho Baptist Church and the Eastern Star.

She is survived by: 5 sons, Ralph of Minden, Louisiana, Leonard of Kingston, Oklahoma, A. J. of Mission, Texas, Loyd and Rev Joe Hock, both of Oklahoma City; 1 brother, Bill Reynolds of Oklahoma City; 18 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Hock, and 1 son, Paul Calvin Hock. Services 10 a.m. Wednesday, Guardian West Chapel with interment in Sunny Lane Cemetery.
