Rev George Henry Templer
(4 Jan 1782 - 8 Apr 1849)
George Henry was the eldest son of George and June Paul. Born in 1782, he was at Merton College Oxford from 1800 to 1808 and obtained a degree of M.A. He became Vicar of Shapwick, Somerset, his father's home village, and Rector of Thornford, Dorset in 1810. The next year he became a Prebendary of Wells. He was also Deputy Lieutenant and Magistrate of Somerset.
in 1807 he had married Anna Maria Graham, the eldest daughter of Thomas Graham of Kinross House Co. Kincardine, who was allied by marriage to the Douglases of Lochleven. This marriage, as well as other connections of Henry Line Templer with the Royal Family, may have contributed towards his appointment as Chaplain in Ordinary at Windsor to George IV when Prince of Wales arid King.
One of his nieces, the third daughter of his brother, John William, was named Ada Fitzroy , - an interesting speculation!
George Henry died in 1849 and, like many other Templers, an obituary notice appeared in The Gentlemans Magazine (1849 - 550).
Born in Calcutta before his father had completed his first period of service with HEIC.
Educated at Westminster (1795).
Became Vicar of Shapwick in 1806, and also Rector of Thornford, Dorset in 1810.
Preb. Wells in 1811.
His wife was his first cousin. She was the daughter of Thomas Graham of Kinross in Scotland, and her mother was sister to George Henry's mother - Jane (nee Paul).
