COTTONDALE | Jack W. Ward, age 94, of Cottondale, died December 1, 2014 at Hospice of West Alabama. Graveside services will be Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Todd Burkhalter, pastor of Coaling Baptist Church will officiate.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Estelle Dees Ward; parents, Brantley and Lula Ward; sister, Mildred Booker; and brothers, Hugh, Alfred, Wallace and Herbert (Jasper) Ward.
Survivors include his daughters, Jackie Ward and Janice Jeans (John) of Cottondale; grandchildren, Brennan Wyatt (Kristie) of Cottondale, Brian Noble (Amanda) of Wenonah, New Jersey and Janna Sanford (Terry) of Northport; step grandchild, David Jeans (Justine) of Jacksonville, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Chandler and Brooks Wyatt of Cottondale, Grant and Lane Sanford of Northport, Alex Noble of Wenonah, New Jersey and step grandchild, Mack Jeans of Jacksonville, Fla. He is also survived by his loyal cat, Sunshine, whose companionship he enjoyed for 13 years.
Jack proudly served 3 ½ years in the Air Force in WWII as a B-26 mechanic in England, Belgium and France. He earned the rank of Tech Sargent. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 15 years.
