Alfred Emanuel Ward

COTTONDALE Alfred E. "Al" Ward, age 84, of Cottondale, passed from this life May 1, 2013, and was welcomed into heaven by a host of family and friends eager to be together again. He is now walking the streets of gold with his Lord and Savior.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Brantley Ward Sr. and Lula Mathews Ward; his brothers, Wallace R. Ward, Herbert J. Ward, and Hugh Brantley Ward Jr.; his sister, Mildred W. Booker; half- brother, Henry J. Ward; half-sister, Daisy Paige; and his wife, Celeste T. Ward.
He is survived by his daughters, Wendi Ward Hinton (John) of Houston, Texas and Mara K. Ward of Cottondale; his grandchildren, Travis Hinton, Nathan Hinton, and Darcy Hinton; his brother, Jack W. Ward; sisters-in-law, Grace B. Ward (Hugh), Ora S. Ward (Herbert), and Marie Miller (Kenneth); a brother-in-law, Oscar Booker (Mildred); nieces, nephews, and faithful companions, Cleo and Spiderman.
Al retired from BF Goodrich after over 38 years and was able to enjoy his passion for playing tennis on a full-time basis until the last few years. He considered teaching Sunday School an honor and spent many hours each Saturday preparing for his class the next day. We believe it can be said of Al that he fought the good fight, he has finished the race, and he has kept the faith, and he has heard "Well done, good and faithful servant," from the Master's lips.
