COTTONDALE Mary Estelle Ward, age 88, of Cottondale, died July 25, 2009, at Hospice of West Alabama. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. today at Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home directing.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John Edward and Hattie Dees; sister, Pauline McDaniel; and brothers, Rufus and Albert Dees,
Survivors include her husband, Jack W. Ward; daughters, Jacqueline Ward and Janice Jeans (John); sister, Edaleen Brown (Clint); grandchildren, Brennan Wyatt (Kristie), Brian Noble (Amanda), and Janna Sanford (Terry); great-grandchildren, Morgan, Chandler, and Brooks Wyatt, Grant and Lane Sanford, and Alex Noble.
Estelle devoted her life to her husband, Jack, and was happily married to him for 64 years. Her two daughters were the light of her life and her time spent with them was priceless. Her son-in-law, Junior and wife, Dianne, were also special to her. She thought of him as a son. Her beloved cat, Sunshine, was her companion. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was loved by all who knew her. She was a special lady. She was "Me-Maw". She was a member of Brewster Road Baptist Church in Birmingham, Ala.
Pallbearers will be Brennan Wyatt, Terry Sanford, Robert Burt, Al Ward, Mike Merriam, and Junior Wyatt.
