"In 1899 William bought a harness shop in the village, but in 1902 his father's health became poor and they "traded places." William remained on the farm until 1921 when he move to Lapeer where he was Secretary-treasurer of Famers Mutual Fire Insurance Co."
Mildred Ivory stated in 1970 the following: In the 1930's William's son Roy created some type of scandal. When Roy's hardworking and well respected father attempted to cover up for Roy, both ended up losing everything and becoming very poor.

English ancestry. Member, Freemasons; Order of the Eastern Star; Woodmen; Grange. Burial location unknown.
