Buford Clinton "Boots" Greenhaw

Buford (Boots) Clinton Greenhaw, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday December 28, 2004. He joined His wife of 69 plus years just 11 weeks after her death. Buford was born on a farm outside of Snyder, Ok on Dec. 23, 1911 to John D. and Myrtle (Gates) Greenhaw. The family lived and cotton farmed in and around the Hobart area. He graduated from High School in Norman, Ok where the family had moved when the oldest boy begin O.U. He then attended O.U. for two years after which he dropped out to help his older brother be able to finish his law degree. He went to work at the public market in Okla. City and a year later decided to open a fruit and vegetable stand of his own.There he met and married Josephine Whitby on March (sic. May) 5, 1935 and begin a long and wonderful life together . They moved from the Public Market to a fruit stand and small convenience store on S.W. 29th and Shartel. In 1951 they opened their first Grocery Store in Midwest City on the N.W. corner of S.E. 29th and Air Depot. As Tinker and Midwest City grew, they grew with it, expanding to a store on N.E. 10th which they closed in 1996. They begin buying land on the N.E. Corner of 15th and Air Depot in 1952 where they later built and developed what today is Gateway Plaza Shopping Center. During these years they raised four children and later three grand-children. Boots was active in many grocery associations and was on the board of the Midwest National Bank when it was formed. He was Chairman of the Board and one of the founders of Farm Fresh Bread and Dairies. He and Josephine were active members of the First Baptist Church of Oklahoma City, Ok since 1944. Buford was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, two brothers and one grandson, Gregory Hulsey. He is survived by Two Sons, Clinton and wife Sharon of Edmond, Ok.; Charles and wife Carla of Oklahoma City. Two Daughters, Bobbie Jean Tritten and husband Ronald, of Norman, Ok.; Cleta Newell and Husband Oran of Nash and Wakita, Okla.; Grand-children Clint Greenhaw, and wife Diana; Deborah Nelson, and Annette Greenhaw, all of MWC; Ronnie Tritten and wife Vanessa of Crowley, TX.; Kelvin Tritten of MWC, Kathy Childers and husband Jerry of Seminole, Ok, Karen Quartuccio and husband Chuck of Norman, Ok.; Steven Hulsey and wife Chrystal of Blanchard, Ok.; Jeff Hulsey and wife Kristy of Wichita, Ks; Christa English and husband Jon of Norman, and Coby Greenhaw and wife Shelly of OKC; twenty-two great- grandchildren and one great-great- grand-daughter. Many nephews, nieces and loving friends and former employees. Dad loved working. He was always willing to talk business with his family and visit with his many visitors. He loved to listen to Gospel music and sing along. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Services will be held on Friday, December 31, in the Louise Prichard Chapel of the First Baptist Church of OKC at 2:00 P.M. Reverends Mike Howard and Ronnie Tritten will Preside. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Okla. City.
