He was a licensed auctioneer and for a short time ran a feed & grain store in Gillette, Wyoming with his brother. Clarence first married Queenie Mae Huss, July 8, 1934 in Creston, Iowa and they had 2 children. They were divorced about 1946. Clarence 2nd married Wilma Arlene Hutton Ackerman and they had 4 children. He lived the remaining years of his life in Des Moines, Iowa as a carpenter.
