(HELENA) Robert Lee Fausett, 90, of Helena, formerly of Birmingham, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007.
Mr. Fausett was born in Carrollton, Ga., grew up in Roanoke, and graduated from Handley High School. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1942 and served in Honolulu, Hawaii, for 3-1/2 years. He graduated from Howard College, now Samford University, in 1954. In 1980, he retired from U.S. Steel after working for 39 years. He was a member of the Hoover Masonic Lodge, where he served as worshipful master and secretary. He was active for 50 years in Hunter Street Baptist Church, where he served on the board of deacons, was a Sunday school teacher and a training union director. For the last two years, he was a member
of Helena First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Casper Fausett and Josephine Pace Carlisle; and sisters, Sarah Vann and Sammie Higgins.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Wyllene Murphree Fausett; a son, Robert A. Fausett of Eastaboga; a daughter, Charlotte McGreaham of Roswell, Ga.; a granddaughter; and a sister, Martha King of Round Rock, Texas.
Services were Sunday, Sept. 16, at 2 p.m. at Elmwood Chapel with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Dr. J.D. Davis and the Rev. Chris Sullivan officiating.
