Note that her gravestone and obituary says she was born in 1880, but1900 census had 1879.

Kokomo Tribune (Kokomo, Indiana), Tuesday, September 18, 1945:
"Miss Gladys McDowell, 65, secretary of the Peru city school board forabout 35 years, died at 7:50 o'clock Monday evening at her home, 335West Main street. Death was caused by heart disease, after an illnessof six months.
Miss McDowell was born June 5, 1880, in Bunker Hill, daughter of HenryP. and Ellen (O'Brian) McDowell. She had lived in Peru for 55 yearsand was a member of the Sigma Delta Phi sorority and the IndianaAssociation of School Board Clerks.
She is survived by one brother, Benson McDowellm of Lewisburg, Pa..
The body was removed to the Allen funeral home pending finalarrangements."
