Benson MCDOWELL

(30 Mar 1882 - Apr 1979)

Is Benson the "Vincent McDowell" named in mother's obituary? He is theonly known son whose middle name or initial is not known to me. WorldWar I draft registration card has a line where middle name should be.Perhaps the familly said Benson and the newspaper person heardVincent. Could sound similar.

A ditch notice in Logansport Pharos Tribune (Logansport, Indiana),Feb. 9, 1925, names David A. McDowell, Marion McDowell, NancyMcDowell, Ellen McDowell, Gladys McDowell, Marvin McDowell and BensonMcDowell, all of Miami Co., IN, along with other residents.

Note regarding the images for the states of PA, MD, WV, and DE. Thesefour states were scanned at the National Archives facility in such away that the back of one person?s draft card appears on the same imageas the front of the next individual. The result is that when you clickto view the original image, you will see the correct front side of thedraft card, but the back of the previous soldier?s card. Ancestry isaware of this problem, and is working to correct this issue.
