Much of the information on this family has not been proven yet. A posting by Michele Perry at the Landers Gen Forum on 19 Feb 2008 inquired this:
Looking for any info on my g-g-grandmother, Mary Ellen Landers who was born in Missouri on 20 Nov 1862 and died in Vernon County, Missouri on 6 Feb 1936. She was married to Benjamin B Hatton in Missouri. According to the information I have her father was named William and he was born in Indiana. Thanks for your help!
A search of the 1870 census led me to conclude there was only one Mary Landers with a father William and that was this family. I then searched the death certificates online for Missouri and found several with information that matches this family. One of those was for this William's apparent wife and gave her father's name as Mikel Fivecoats, born Germany. The information fits and is being entered, but is not yet verified.
Estimating birth year for William of 1810-1811 based on his appearing in the personal tax list in 1832, "assuming" that he turned 21.
Apr 2015, some trees have his first wife as Persel Meek. There is a marriage in Muskingum Co., OH, of Wm Launder to Persil Meek, Aug. 29, 1833, by Joseph Stires, J.P. There was at least William Launder in Muskingum and are other marriages - one in 1818 and one in 1835. A search in the 1830 census shows a Joseph Steares in Salem Twp.. Likely this is the right marriage.
