Phyllis Fridlund Webster was born June 9, 1924 in Sioux City, Iowa toHarry Albert and Gretchen Giehm Fridlund. She moved to Lindsay in 1941and graduated from Lindsay High School in 1942. It was in LindsayPhyllis met Robert (JR) Webster and they married the following year in1943. She attended Fresno State University, graduating ?Summa cumLaude? and went on to do graduate work at Cal Western University, SanDiego State University, Pepperdine University, Fresno PacificUniversity, Cal State University, Northridge University, San JoseState University, Long Beach State University, San Fernando ValleyState University, and extension work through Fresno State Universityin London, England. For seventeen years, Phyllis was a LindsayElementary School teacher as well a being a math and reading resourceinstructor. She is listed in the 1973 Edition of ?OutstandingElementary Teachers of America.? In 1984, Phyllis graduated from theFresno College of Clownology. She used this experience to present aself-esteem program to Kindergarten and First Grade students as?FILLI? the clown supported by the Tulare County Office of Education.Phyllis also developed and presented the ?I?m Thumbody Program? toTulare County second grade students while serving as a Commissioner onthe Tulare County Juvenile Justice Department.

Phyllis touched the lives of many people in her numerous roles withPEO, Delta Kappa Gamma, Beta Kappa, AAUW, Tulare/Kings MADD Chapter,Tulare County Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Commission, MADD StateVictim Outreach Chair, Tulare County Rape Crisis Counselor, TulareCounty Grand Jury member, CA Grand Jury member, Courtroom VictimsAdvocate, Tulare County Juvenile Facility Cadet LeadershipToastmaster?s Training Program. She has been recognized as a Woman ofDistinction by the League of Women Voters as well as The SoroptimistClub of Visalia and has received the Tulare County Probation Officer?sAward, Community Service Award from Sequoia Chapter CPPCA, and the CAState Distinguished Award for contribution in the field of JuvenileJustice presented by the CA Probation, Parole and CorrectionalAssociation.

Phyllis was loved and appreciated by all who knew her. She was devotedto her husband, her family, her church, her friends and her community.Phyllis was fortunate to be surrounded by a wonderful loving familyand she was always there to support and encourage. Always theoptimist, kind, caring, loving, considerate, appreciative, and so muchmore cannot begin to describe the wonderful person in Phyllis.

As she now goes to join Bob with the Lord, Phyllis leaves twochildren, (her oldest son Richard and his wife Cindy passed away in1983) Ann Hieronymus and Mark Webster, seven grandchildren, DonaldWebster, Catherine Clark, Heather Legge, Arthur Hieronymus, James,David and John Webster, and two great grandchildren, Noah and JeremyClark, with three more great grand children on the way.

Phyllis will be genuinely missed by all. A memorial service will beheld on January 26, 2008 at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Churchin Lindsay.
