"Mrs. Leila Brown Swire Dies After Long Illness
Mrs. Leila Brown Swire, 84, died in a local rest home Sunday noon after an illness of several weeks. She and her husband, John Swire, had come to Santa Cruz from Grand Junction in 1939. Their home was at 126 Miles street.
Mrs. Swire was a member and active worker in the First Presbyterian church.
She is survived by her husband: two daughters, Mrs. Mabel Henderson of Santa Rosa and Leila Sullivan (Mrs. Norman Sullivan) of Santa Cruz; a son, Robert Swire of Santa Cruz; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Private funeral services were conducted this afternoon at White's chapel by Rev. R. S. Eastman. Interment followed in the IOOF cemetery."
