Notice in the Leadville newspaper said in full:
"DEATH OF MRS. BROWN - Mrs. Fred L. Cretney, 112 West Seventh Street, received a letter this week from Mrs. John Swire of Grand Junction,telling her of the death of the latter's mother, Mrs. Wilard Brown, at one time a resident of Leadville, who died suddenly December 6 in her home in southern California. The funeral, held on December 9, was attended by a number of former Leadville people who are now in California.
Mr. and Mrs. Brown lived in Leadville until about two years ago, when they moved to California to make that state their permanent home. Both had a number of friends in this city." Photocopy of the article in the possession of the author.
