State vs. Richard C. White, Charge Bastardy
The said Richard C. White as above charged came into court Entered into bond with L. W. Warren his security in the sum of Three hundred Dollars to be void if the said White shall keep a male bastard child begotten of one Mary Venable of which the said White is the alledged father....from becoming a county charge.

Neither of the parties appearing in this cause the court orders that said cause be postponed until the next term.

In this case the defendent having been adjudged by Turner W. Warner Esquire a Justice of the Peace for the County of Johnson to be the Father of a Bastard female child begotten of the body of Mary Venable of which she was delivered on the 18th day of May 1840 and the said Richard C. White having been recognized as the law directs in such Cases to appear at the last term of this court and the said White not appearing it was ordered that the said Cause be laid over to the present Term of this court and the said White having made his personal appearance on open Court, on motion, it appearing to the satisfaction of the Court that the said Defendant is adjudged the reputed Father of the said female bastard child. It is therefore ordered by the court that the said Defendant execute his bond with Security as the law...... to support and maintain the said child as the Court shall order and direct and indemnify the County of Johnson free from charge on maintenance of the said child and further that he give bond and security for twenty Dollars for the first year, Ten dollars for the Second year and Ten dollars for the third year and that he remain in the custody of the Sheriff until the above order is complyed [sic] with, wherefrom the Defendant Executed his bond with Daniel Stout as his Security as the law directs to keep the said child from becoming a County charge which bond is filed in the clerks office.
