Anna Guth
(Abt 1706 - 1779)
Anna Guth had a sister named Anna Guth. They were both alive at the same time. The reason may be that Anna Guth, the older, and her husband, Hans Landis, jr., were baptized by Conrad Beissel in 1725. It was the practice that members entering the Ephrata Cloister took on new names to symbolize their new life in Christ. At any rate, she was so taken with Conrad Beissel that her husband appealed to the church council to instruct her to return to her husband. The church council did, and both Anna and Hans left the Ephrata Cloister. Upon her husband's death, Anna returned to the Cloister.
