Hans Guth, and his brother Jacob, in the summer of 1711 settled in the Pequea Valley. Hans had 200 acres in Upper Leacock Township surveyed 17 June 1719 and patented in 1740. Hans Guth became a naturalized British citizen 14 February 1729/1730 as "Hans Goot."
