Johannes B. Hershey Senior
(21 May 1772 - 23 Nov 1850)
Johannes Hershey was the first Deacon to serve the Hess congregation of the Mennonite church (later became the Paradise-Hershey portion of the Pequea district of the Lancaster Mennonite Conference). Johannes was ordained as a deacon by 1813 in the Pequea district.

Birth
On page 141 of the Biographical Annals of Lancaster County, John Hershey's birth date was given as about 1762. This is only 13 years after his mother's, Anna Newcomer, birth. It also clashes with Henry Hershey's listing of John as being 20 years old in 1792.Melanie Jackson gave Lancaster County, Pennsylvania as John Hershey's birth place.
