MONTICELLO...The funeral of Lois E. Heyen, 71, was held Saturday afternoon, Jan 15 at Goettsch funeral home with interment in Oakwood cemetery. Rev. Terry Rehling officiated.
Mrs. Heyen died Wednesday morning, Jan. 12, at Mercy hospital, Cedar Rapids, after a lengthy illness.
She was born March 23, 1906, near Anamosa, daughter of Charles and Matilda Suehr Soper. She received her early education in he Jones county rural schools and Anamosa public school.
On Sept 14, 1922, she married Clarence E. Hayen. The couple made their home in Langworthy, where they jointly operated the Heyen general store for over 40 years. Mr. Heyen died June 5 1964, and Mrs. Heyen continued to operate the store for five years.
Survivors include a son, Robert, Joliet, Ill; two daughters, Mrs. James (Dorothy) Reed of Reserve, NM; and Mrs. Donald (Phyllis) Husmann, Langworthy; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
also surviving are two brothers, Clifford and Theodore Soper, both of Monticello, and three sisters, Mrs. Adeline Hart of Springville, Mrs. Marjorie Andrews of Long Lake, Minn. and Mrs. Margaret Rusch of Cedar Falls.
Also preceding her in death was a son, Clifford on Oct 28, 1971, and four brothers.
Casket bearers were John R. Heyen, Jefferson Heyen, Rick Heyen, Charles Hart, John Stutt and Dean Husmann.
