BR Funeral services for Dorothy Reed, 83, of Ruidoso Downs will be Tuesday, Dec. 30, at 11:00 AM in the J Bar J Church in Ruidoso. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Reed passed away Friday, Dec. 26, in Ruidoso. She was born June 18, 1925 at Monticello, Iowa to Lois and Clarence Heyen who precede her in death. She was an avid horse racing fan, loved the outdoors and things with nature and worked with the U.S. Forest Service in Reserve, New Mexico. She moved to Lincoln County in 1990 from Reserve, New Mexico. She married James Reed on September 26, 1947 at Prescott, Arizona and he preceded her in death on October 16, 1989. She is survived by her son, Tom J. Reed; daughter in law; Donna of Waco, Texas; one granddaughter, Lacy J. Reed of Waco, Texas; her sister's daughters, Linda Schneider and Carol Ann Sleep; estended family and special friends, Jr. and Connie Behringer; many other family and life long friends thoughout New Mexico. She was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Husman; two brothers, Dr. Hans Heyen and Henry Dutch Heyen. In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made to a favorite charity or to Dot's favorite: The New Mexico Boys and Girls Ranches, PO Box 9, Belen, NM 87002-0009
