Mrs. Schmidt Buried MondayDeath Occurred Friday Morning at 7 O'clock
Funeral services were held for Mrs. Fred Schmidt at St. Matthew's Lutheran church Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. They were in charge of her pastor, Rev. Henry L. Adix, Lutheran' minister. Burial was made at Wyoming, where Mr. Schmidt is buried.
Mrs. Schmidt, who had been bedfast for nine weeks, passed away Friday morning at 7 o clock. She was Elizabeth Ann Juilfs before her marriage. Her parents were John and Cornelia (Eiben) Juilfs. Her birth occurred at Wittmund, Ostfriesland, Germany, August 21, 1883. She came to the United States when she was ten years old. Her father's family settled in Castle Grove township, where she was confirmed April 11, 1897. She was married in October, 1904, at Wyoming, Iowa, to Fred Schmidt, who died March 10, 1914. The family had lived on farms in the Onslow vicinity and came to Monticello 23 years ago.
Mrs. Schmidt is survived by the following children: Etta, Mrs. C. C. Little, Cedar Rapids; George and John, Monticello; Frieda, Mrs. Howard Rathert, Milwaukee, Wis.; Ernest, Camp Cooke, Calif., and by four grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers: Henry Juilfs, Muscatine; William Juilfs Longmont, Colo.; Gerhardt Juilfs Onslow. All of her children were present at the funeral. During her final illness. Mrs. Schmidt had the tender care of her family.
