Esther Prouty, wife of the late R. A. Prouty, died at her home on the old farm four miles east of Colville Friday morning after a long illness. The deceased lady was a native of Michigan and 74 years of age. She came with her family to Iowa where she was married 55 years ago. In 1881 she came with her husband to Colville and homesteaded 160 acres of land at the foot of old Dominion mountain. The surviving childen are four sons and four daughters: Mrs. Jennie Wilbur, Mrs. Rachel Theis, Mrs. Anna Queener and Mrs. Sadie Smith: Henry, Bert, George and James Prouty, all of Colville. The funeral will take place from the home this afternoon with interment at the Evergreen cemetery.
