Mrs. Rachel Theis, wife of George Theis, died at 3 a.m. Tuesday the 23rd of Dec., of tuberculosis of the bowels, at her home near Washington Mill. She was 47 years and three months of age. She leaves a family of ten living children to mourn the loss of a kind, tender mother. Mrs. Theis was the daughter of the late R. A. Prouty and wife. She was a good, true friend, a kind neighbor and true, loving wife. A large concourse of friends met at the undertaking parlor to pay their last sad respects. The funeral sermon was conducted by Rev. Rice of the Congregational church, on Wednesday the 24th. It could be said of her "The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her" and "Her children will rise up and call her blessed."
