William Van Meter

(Abt 1766 - 1808)

This is a branch of the family that has not had a lot of research probably because as I have been told that by family tradition, William may have been the illigitimate child of one of Jacob Sr's children. Although Jacob raised him as his own. At that time it may have been a bit if a scandal.

The 1831 bible of Kathy's great, great grandfather shows them having a child by
the name of Valeriah VanMETER, born 1812 in Indiana. She would have been a sister to William, born 1807.

The court records of Monongahela, West Virginia have a record of William's marriage to Phebe HARP, 15 Dec 1795. The service was performed by James Fleming.
