Lived for two years before death at Doran Rest Home, Sauk Rapids, MN. I used to go there with Nana and Poppy to visit him. We took dixie cup of ice cream to him when we visited. I remember sitting with him on the edge of the bed. He had a bushy mustache

Section 8 is owned by J.H.Rhodes (who Frank lived with in 1885 census). There is a house on Section - across from school house in Section 9.
Little Falls township is south of Little Falls boardering the city on the south and south east. South of Little Falls township is Bellevue township on the east side of the river. Section8 is in the north eastern part of the township.
In the 1902 Plat Book Frank owns land in Little Falls township in sections 22,27 & 26. He has 600 acres. 160 acres are in name of Mary L Long. Schoool house No 105 is in section 26

His birth date is listed as Dec 9, 1856 on his death certificate. This info was given by the Rest Home records. Aunt Lillian gives his birthday as Dec 1, 1863. in correspondence #LON001 to Helen.Death
He died at the Doran Rest Home, Rt#2, Sauk Rapids, MN where he had lived for 2 years. He was 97 years old. He had heart disease for 20 years. Suffered a stroke 2 years before his death of heart failure.=================

Frank J. Long
Frank J. Long, 91, a former Morrison county sheriff, died Friday at the Doran Rest Home in Sauk Rapids. He had resided in Sauk Rapids the past 34 years (wrong - should be more like 3 or 4 years). Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30pm at the Brenny Funeral Home and burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. The Rev. Rodney Benson will officiate.
Born in Bonaire, Iowa, December 1, 1862, he came to Minnesota when 16 years of age, making the trip by covered wagon, locating at Willmar. He went to work on the Great Northern Railway, which was in the process of construction at the time.
Later Mr Long began contracting for Foley Bros., hauling logs for construction in parts of Minnesota. He farmed in the vicinity for himself and for others. In 1906 Mr Long was elected sheriff of Morrison county and served for one term, after which he farmed in southeast Little Falls. Mr Long was a well driller from 1919 until he retired a few years ago.
Mr. Long was married to Mary Elizabeth Morgan in St Cloud July 1, 1889.
Sons and daughters surviving are Mrs. Arthur Reynolds, Little Falls; Mrs. E.A. Sheridan (Helen), Livingston, Mont.; Mrs. G.P. Adamson (Grace), St Petersburg Florida; Harvey, San Francisco, Calif.; Mrs. William Putnam (Catherine) St Cloud; Frank, Jr, Mrs. W. H. Dean (Marie) and Norman, Minneapolis and Mrs. G.W. Scott (Geraldine) Palo Alto, Calif.
Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Brenny Funeral Home Sunday afternoon and until the hour of service.
