Edward Dodge was the son of Richard Dodge and Edith (Brayne) Dodge.[1] His date and place of birth is unknown, but some have estimated it to be about 1647-1650 in/near Beverly/North Beverly, Massachusetts.
Brothers Edward and Joseph Dodge were joint executors of the will of their father, Richard Dodge, who died on 15 Jun 1671. Together Edward and Joseph inherited the home farm, valued at £1,000. Edward also inherited a piece of land that Richard had previously dedicated to a burying ground (nka the "Cemetery on Dodge Row").[1]
Edward married Mary Haskell[2] in Beverly, Massachusetts in April 1673,[3] probably on the 30th of that month.[1][4][5]
Edward and Mary Dodge had the following children:[1][6][7]
Mary, b.21 Apr 1675, d.20 Nov 1763, m.Peter Woodbury;
Jonathan, b.bef. 15 Dec 1678;
Jonathan, b.3 Jul 1679, d.Oct 1756, m.Esther Friend 1701/2;
Edith, b.3 Jan 1681, d.3 Nov 1743, m.Israel Wood 1709;
Ruth, b.15/16 Aug 1685, d.9 Jan 1727, m.Israel Balch;
Edward, b.bef. 6 Nov 1687, d.1751, m.Abigail Hayward 1717;
Eleanor, b.abt. 1691, m.Thomas Bray III;
Hannah, b.bef. 17 Apr 1692, d.1782, m.Samuel Curtis 1720;
Mark, b.bef. 21 Oct 1694, d.26 Jan 1789, m1.Sarah Dodge, m2.Elizabeth Woodbury.
Edward was often chosen to town offices such as constable and collector of taxes, grand juryman, trial juryman, surveyor of highways, one of the selectmen, and member of various committees charged with some special duty.[1][6]
Edward passed away on Feb 12 or 13 1727[1] in Beverly, Massachusetts Bay.[3][8] Edward's will was dated 17 Feb 1714/15 and was filed 20 Mar 1727. It names his wife Mary, sons Edward, Mark and Jonathan, daughters Mary Woodbury, Edith Wood, Ruth Balch, Ellenor and Hannah. Sons Edward and Mark were named co-executors of the will and were to take care of their mother, Mary.[1]

Note: The information I have from John Dodge down to William and Richard's father is gleanings from "Joseph T. Dodge, Colonial Families of the USA" and some speculation from an e-mail Dodge. All of us Dodges would like it if any of you have some actual proof of this lineage, and would e-mail me with your information. We all have been trying to no avail to prove the connection between the lines of Richard, William and Tristam! There is also a wonderful Dodge Association.
