Proof of David Branham living in Montgomery County Virginia.
The Settlements of Carroll County Virginia 1765-1815 p. 38: Branham is one of the few early settlers on Burks Fork who did not stay. Nothing is known of his anti-decedents. The Land Commission records indicate the he settled a 260A tract in 1772 which ultimately became Trumans Farm. Branham had it surveyed in 1774, but, never took the grant to it, selling his rights to the Quaker Silas Williams.
David Branham was in the Montgomery Militia, along with a James Branham in Capt. Johathan Isham's Co. But, he does not appear on the earlier Muster of Capt. Babbitt. Although he was still taxed in Montgomery County in 1790 it is likely he had moved to Little River in Floyd Co.KY (Formed from Montgomery Co., VA in abt. 1800) for he had a survey there in 1789 as well as another on Greasy Creek in 1786. David Branham's original tract of 260A had a small St stream which passed through it in route to Burks Fork. Today it is called Brannon*s Branch.
