Mary Frances Mauzy who was Grandma Payne had a sister, Saddie, (Sarah) who married as her first husband Ulysses David Cole. The Cole family was from Ohio. Some of their children moved to Indiana. Ulysses sister was Cornelia Cole. She went to Ohio Wesleyan University and met and married Charles W. Fairbanks. Fairbanks became a Senator from Indiana from 1897-1905 when he became Vice-President under Teddy Roosevelt. Fairbanks Alaska is named for him. Cornelia was quite a woman. She was involved with the DAR, a prominent suffragette and an early pioneer of women in politics. She was one of the best known women in US in that time and was considered as clever a politician as her husband. They lived in Indianapolis where both died, she in 1913 and he in 1918 and are buried in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Mary F Payne, 84, widow of Edwin Payne, former Rushville banker died at 9:45 pm Saturday at her home, 433 North Harrison st, after a long illness.

Mrs. Payne was born in Preble County, Ohio, October 15, 1848, the daughter of Abram G and Mary Jameson Mauzy. She was married to Mr Payne in 1870.
She is survived by two sons, Ralph of West Palm Beach, Fla, and Earl of Danbury, Conn, a brotther, C.A. Mauzy and a sister, Mrs. Sarah Mowers; both of Rushville. Her husband died in 1907.

She was a member of the Main Street Christian Church of Rushville.

Funeral services will be held at the home of C.A. Mauzy, 601 North Harrison st, at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon
Interment in the family mausoleum in East Hill Cemetery.
