Notes:
John Lawrence Muller
was born November 1896 in New Jersey, He was an ensign in the Navy in WWI, and attended the Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science. He worked in his father's company as a yarn salesman. He must have started from the bottom up cuz in 1920 he is a boarder in Nelson Whritman family, age 25, working as a laborer in cotton mill in 1920.

In 1930 John was living with Katherine, his sister in Lower Merion Twp, Montgomery Co, PA renting. (His mother and father died in 1928 so I suppose they couldn't live at home so rented an apartment together.. Both John and Katherine were single in 1930.
John was married first to Jean McDowell

Married second to Frances Evelyn Payne Kerr. Frances had also been married before and was divorced when they met. John was still waiting for his divorce to go through.

John's brother, Harold, was a WWI pilot, , He was shot down and served in a German POW camp. Harold worked in offices of LP Muller & Sons.

He was not in the Lafayette Escradrille as John said but he was a pilot in the 12th Areo Squadron serving in the European theatre. He was shot down just days before the end of the war. I have his accounts and the account of his observer in the digital files. There is also an account of the 12th squadron.

John was born in NJ but later lived in PA.

Both were probably in their 1st marriages in early 1930's.

I think I remember Grannie talking about her 1st husband being a stockbroker and losing $ in the crash of 1929. They went to live with his mother or grandmother who lived in upstate New York.

I think Grannie was divorced and working for a lady in her shop in NY city, Mrs Clifford Hemphil. This is the lady that befriended her and gave her lots of advice. The lady used to go to Cuba to get things for her shop and I got impression probably brought back some booze during prohibition and Cuban cigars. Grannie had some cigar boxes that could have come from that. She went to Cuba on their yacht, the Pegasus. Grannie went along at least once. She may have met John through this lady. There is a picture in the digital files of them on this boat.

So Grannie may have married in late 1920's and was divorced and working for this lady in mid 1930's

I can not find Grannie in the 1930 census.

Was LP Muller & Co in 1922
LP Muller, Muller, Riddle & Co 206 Chestnut St, Philadelphia in 1905

===========
There was a John C. Muller in 1933 NY City Directory which lists wife Frances Evelyn as wife. He is captain of Bankers Club. The home address was 1040 Clay Ave. I do not think this our family.
