Obituary, Murdock Voice Paper, Murdock, MN Nov 20, 1913
Mrs. Mary (Flynn) Hubbert
The subject of this short sketch was born in the county of Cork, Ireland on Sept 27, 1840 and died in Woods township, Chippewa county on Monday, Nov 17, 1913 at the ripe old age of 73 years, one month and twenty days.
Mrs Mary Hubbert was married in Ireland in 1859 to Thomas Hubbert, and emigrated to America in 1873, landing in Boston, Mass. In 1880 they came west and settled on a homestead in Woods township, where they resided until their demise. Mr Hubbert died in 1900. She was the mother of 11 children of whom five are living, as follows: John F. who still resides at the old home; Mrs. Geo McPhee and Mrs. Thomas Condon of Louriston, and Mrs. F.G. Weller of Atkinson, Neb, and Mrs B.F. Badger of Spearfish, SD.
After a long, busy and useful life she died as she lived--honored, trusted, and loved.
She in common with the early settlers, suffered the hardships of this-then- frontier life, but was ever cheerful. She reared her own monument while she lived in the hearts of those who knew her. Her Christian life was beautiful from its beginnings to its close, and throught all its vicissitudes and sorrows that she met on the way, her faith in God never wavered.
The funeral services were held in Sacred Heart church, Murdock, Thursday morning and consisted of the high requiem mass sung by Rev. Father W.P. Walsh, attended by a large concourse of people, many of whom followed the remains to the Catholic cemetery in DeGraff where the body was laid to rest beside the body of her beloved husband.
The many friends of the surviving family join in tendering them their sincere sympathy in their sad bereavement.
