Vol. 45, page 167-169 Coryell County Deed Records:On 11-26-1906, T.V. and J.B. Hood, his wife, sold to C.S. Coleman and M.F. Johnson 202 and 8/10 acres of land in the Tobias Kelley Survey and 184 and 1/4 acres of land in the Mary Hawley Survey.
The purchase was paid by $4140 cash from C.S. Coleman and $1000 cash from G.W. Coleman for C.S. Coleman and M.F. Johnson and by 7 notes given by C.S. Coleman, M.F. and J.E. Johnson at 8% interest and payable as : $800 due 1-1-1907; $900 due 1-1-1908; $1000 due on 1-1 of 1909, 1910, and 1911; $1100 due 1-1-1912; and $1200 due 1-1-1913.

Vol. 68, page 380-382 Coryell County Deed Records:On 11-22-1913, C.S. and wife Emma Coleman and J.E. and wife M.F. Johnson sold 202 and 8/10 acres of the Tobias Kelley Survey and 184 and 1/4 acres of the Mary Hawley Survey to G.W. Coleman for $10,000, paid in cash and property equal in value to $10,000.
These are the same tracts of land purchased from T.V. and J.B. Hood on 11-26-1906 and recorded in Vol. 45, page 167-169.

Coryell County, Texas, Deed Records, Vol. 58, Page 622:G. W. Coleman and wife M. V.Coleman set out conditions under which they will convey 2 tracts of land to C.S. Coleman and wife Emma.
Conditions:
C.S. Coleman and wife Emma agree to allow G. W. Coleman and wife M. V. Coleman to live in the home of C.S. Coleman and wife Emma the remainder of their natural lives.
If at any time the G.W. Colemans desire to have their own house the C.S. Colemans will build one for them at any location selected by the G.W. Colemans at an expense of no more than $500.00.
The agreement remains in effect as long as either of the spouses lives and can be terminated by the G.W. Colemans if conditions are not met by the C.S. Colemans.
The tracts of land are 184 and 1/4 acres of Mary Hawley Survey and 202 and 8/10 acres of Tobias Kelly Survey in Coryell County, Texas.
Signed 11-28-1913 and filed 1-27-1914.

Vol. 109, page 452 Coryell County Deed Records:On 1-19-1928, J.E .Johnson and L.E. Pollard gave an affidavit stating: they knew G.W. and M.V. Coleman; that G.W. Coleman died c 3-13-1923 and M.V. Coleman died c 5-5-1927, both intestate; the Colemans' only children were C.S. Coleman and M.F. Johnson, wife of J.E. Johnson; G.W. and M.V. Coleman conveyed 202.8 acres of the Tobias Kelley Survey and 184.5 acres of the Mary Hawley Survey to C.S. Coleman in exchange for being provided a home and full support during their lifetimes or if the Colemans chose to have their own home, a home of $500 value would be built for them; C.S. Coleman and wife Emma maintained, improved, and fenced this land and carried out all the terms of the agreement to care for the Colemans; and no outside claims have been made on this land for more than 20 years.

UncleCharlie Coleman says that the bunch of shanty Irish that was sent out from St.Louis to build the road wasn't getting anything done until him and Bill Oglesby tuk hold and showed them how to build a railroad.
They built her into Leon Junction which was the end of the line until Gatesville folks woke up and asked old man Fordyce, president of the road, to build it into the county seat, instead of branching off at the Junction and going to Lampasas Springs.”
