Miscellaneous
From "Maryland Genealogies, Vol. 2", indexed by Thomas L. Hollowak, article by A. Russell Slagle: the Lane coat of arms is described as- "per pale azure, and gules three saltires couped argent: issuant from a cresant or two Eagles' Heads the dexter gules the siniter-azure." The first mention of this coat of arms is in 1564 associated with the William Lane of Orlybere, County Northampton family. It is thought that this coat of arms was used even as early as the early 1400's by the Lane family of Northampton. In "Burke's Landed Gentry", the Lane of Badgemore family used the above coat of arms.Several other branches of the Lane family also used this coat of arms.
