Miscellaneous
The day her brother, John T. Bailey returned from the Civil War, she was working with a spinning wheel and loom in a separate log building from the house. When she looked up and saw "Brother John" as she called him walk past the window, she screamed and threw up her hands sending her shuttle into the rafters. They never found the shuttle so John carved a new one for "Miss Sally' as he called his sister, Sarah. John had been in a Union prison camp and had to walk home at the end of the war. It took him so long to get back home the family had about given him up for dead.Marriage

Coryell Co., TX Death Certificate #401, filed 3-21-1925, states that Sarah D. Duncan died 3-20-1925 at Turnersville, TX. due to acute apoplexy. Other information states burial was 3-21-1925 at Turnersville Cemetery; father's name , Isaac Bailey; and mother's name not given. Informant was Bethel Duncan, her son.Burial
She is buried in the family plot, lot D 70, on the south side of the Turnersville Cemetery. A new marker with Sarah D., dates 1847-1925, and Henry A. with dates 1850-1908 and the name Duncan above was placed at the time of her death.Endnotes
