Probably died before reaching his majority or was severely disabled and under the care of others. The Quit Rent rolls of 1704 show his brother John with 775 acres of land - the same amount as his father's patent of 1687. This would indicate Francis was not capable to inherit his half of the land as specified in his father's will that he might not be, so all went to John.

There is also on Feb 1688/9, Henrico Co Court Records, "Mr. Francis Redford came into Court and made the statement that his son, Francis Redford, is an idiot". This is the last known record of young Francis - he was no doubt mentally handicapped and probably had come of age at this time.
