Individual Details
Alexander McCorkle Haden
(1808 - )
Alexander may have married first in Alabama. Many of his father's land patents were in Tallapoosa County and I found this marriage record there:
Haden, A. M. to Burnaman (?) Louisa J. 1841
Alexander's name???? There was a McCorkle family in Rowan Co - John McCorkle, let a will dated 7 Mar 1797, probated 1800. Named Wife Catharina, son, Joel - both were extrs. Wit: Samuel McCorkle, Alexander McCorkls. WB D, p.217
I believe this is this Alexander. DeSoto Parish, LA in 1850: Alex. Haden, age 42, planter, born in NC. Eliza A. 18 born MS. Mary L. 7 born AL. Alex M. 6, born LA. [I believe Eliza to have been a second marriage - the marriage recorded in DeSoto Marriage Book A, p. 95. She may also have been counted with her family in 1850 because in the household of G. A. Tharp is an Eliza age 17, born in MS.]
1860 DeSoto Parish, LA, Household 342:
A.M. Haden age 51, Farmer, Value of Real estate $3200, Personal $13, 400, b. NC.
Eliza age 28, Matron, b. MS; Mary L. age 18, b. AL, Alix E. age 16, Wm T 7, Kate L. 4, Ann E 3, and Alfred F. age 1, all born in LA. He had 14 slaves
By 1870, apparently both Alexander & Eliza had died. I found in DeSoto Parish, LA, Ward 3, Hh 141:
A. E. Haden, age 25, [male]. K. L. Haden, age 14 [female] and W. T. Haden, age 17 [male] living together. All born in LA.
In Hh 144 was Lou Haden, teacher, age 27. She was living with Alfred & Jane Galloway. [probably named Mary Louisa after her mother]
